Cristina builds green energy — literally, from the driver’s seat of heavy machinery!

“My name is Chit Adriana Cristina and I help build photovoltaic parks”.

She is 32 years old, and she has spent the past two years on solar construction sites in New Zealand, Australia, and Romania. She started out with a marker and a measuring tape in hand, marking the positions for posts, and now she operates machinery such as telehandlers and forklifts.

“We have the steering wheel, the headlights and the turn signals, and here is the joystick, the gear lever”

This summer she obtained her construction machinery operator certification after successfully passing written tests and practical exams. We asked her if she remembers the first time she got into a Manitou.

“Yes! I got into one right here on this construction site. It seemed very difficult to maneuver at first, but I kept practicing with an empty pallet so I wouldn’t damage anything, and I got used to it. I’ve always loved this kind of adrenaline — machinery and things like this. I’ve always liked doing something different.”, says Cristina.

She graduated from the Technological High School in Jibou, Sălaj County, and so far she has contributed to the construction of hundreds of megawatts, both in Romania and abroad.
